Who, What, When, Where & Why
Jennifer London is an award-winning journalist who is currently working as a correspondent for Al Jazeera America. Before joining AJAM in 2013 Jennifer was a contributing correspondent for SoCal Connected on KCET in Los Angeles. In 2012 Jennifer was honored with a Columbia duPont Award, one of the most prestigious awards in journalism, for her story Courting Disaster which aired on KCET.
Before joining KCET Jennifer was a staff correspondent for World Report on HDNet. Jennifer joined the team in 2008 and reported on a range of topics including anti-Semitism in Venezuela, social entrepreneurship in Africa and civil rights abuses in Argentina. London also covered the historic final launches of Space Shuttle Endeavour and Discovery.
Previously Jennifer was a national staff correspondent for NBC Network News and MSNBC covering breaking news and feature stories. Her work appeared on NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, MSNBC, Dateline, CNBC and MSNBC.com. Based in NBC's Burbank Bureau London also reported from bureaus in London, New York, New Orleans, and Chicago.
While working at NBC Jennifer covered Hurricanes Katrina and Dennis, the California wildfires of 2003, the Utah mine disaster, the national immigration debate, the five-year anniversary of Columbine, and the execution of Stanley 'Tookie' Williams. She also reported from the Scott Peterson, Kobe Bryant and Michael Jackson trials. Jennifer's work covering the London Terror Bomb Plot, for NBC Nightly News, earned her a national Emmy Award nomination for breaking news.
Prior to NBC, Jennifer worked in local and cable news in San Francisco and San Diego as a host, reporter, producer, writer and investigative researcher. London also served as a co-host, correspondent and senior producer on CyberCrime, an innovative, award-winning news-magazine which aired on the cable station TechTV.
Jennifer has been recognized with three Emmy Awards, a Casey Medal, a Golden Mike Award and a 1st Place LA Press Club Award.
Jennifer also reported for CBS News, CNN and TruTV, and has been a guest reporter on NPR station's KPCC and KCRW.
When Jennifer's not on a reporting assignment she spends her free time traveling internationally as a humanitarian worker, and has helped build houses in Papua New Guinea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Nepal and Kyrgyzstan. She is also an avid photographer, and collector of digital camera memory cards and frequent flyer miles.
